  More than a fruit garden
During a tour to the Mekong Delta, tourists, including those on their first visit, shouldn´t miss the myriad of fruits available, ranging from pomelos and dragon fruit to rambutans.

Tam Ho´s garden at Long Ho Isle in Vinh Long Province´s Hoa Ninh District is an ideal place to find such fruits.

While touring the 3-hectare garden, you can see many kinds of fruit trees and small bridges across canals. In the center, there are groups of green bamboo trees and flowers growing. In the canals there are many fish of different sizes.

Sitting among the natural fragrance of trees, experiencing fried fish with griddle cakes and drinking regional wines are the best ways to experience the atmosphere.

Tam Ho said that the garden had its was many years ago when he was young. During the past 10 years, it has been further developed, thanks to hands of his children, one of whom is a graduate of HCM City University of Agriculture and Forest.

When asked about the number of fruit types in the garden, Ho said that he cannot pinpoint the exact figure, partly since there are tens of types of each mango, jack-fruit and pomelo.

After resting briefly to enjoy mangos or jackfruits, you can continue the trip to other corners of the garden to gather pamelos, longans, oranges, and mandarins.

However, some of visitors only like to observe these fruit trees instead of satisfying their tastes. During a walk around the grounds, it´s not surprising to be followed by chickens looking for food.

To create a quiet atmosphere and a relaxing place for tourists, Tam Ho took a garden´s corner to make rooms made from bamboo. At VND50,000 a day, many visitors rent a small room to take a rest after a trip to "study" fruits.

An image of an old man with grey hair waving goodbye to visitors is sure to inspire future trips.

To get to Tam Ho´s Garden, tourists first come to the Hoa Ninh District and then travel across Co Chien River to arrive at Long Ho Isle.
